  • Acne Treatment

Whether you are a teenager or an adult, acne can affect your skin. Acne is a common skin condition that affects most people, to a varying degree, during their teen years, but can also affect adults in their 20's and 30's. Treatment from a MedSpa can improve your appearance and self-esteem, preventing lifelong scars. Causes of Acne Normal skin contains oil glands under the skin that produce an oily substance called sebum. The sebum moves from the bottom to the top of each hair follicle and then spills out onto the surface of the skin, taking with it sloughed-off skin cells. When you develop acne, the structure in which the sebum flows gets plugged up. This blockage traps the sebum and sloughed off cells below the skin, preventing them from being released onto the skin's surface. If your pore's opening is fully blocked, a whitehead will be produced and if the pore’s opening is open, a blackhead is created. Red pustules or papules can be produced if a whitehead or blackhead becomes inflamed. It is important to not pick or scratch at the lesions because it can make them inflamed, leading to long-term scarring. Maintain a Proper Skin Care Regimen While hormonal changes during puberty can cause many types of acne to be unavoidable, with a diligent skin care regimen many teens can help control outbreaks from becoming severe, minimize the appearance of blemishes and prevent scarring. Chronic adult acne can be frustrating, and can have long-lasting effects on the self-esteem and confidence of those suffering from it. Whether you are a teenager or an adult suffering from acne, there are treatments available in addition to simple skin care steps.

  • Botox

Everyone has unique expressions. We move our facial muscles in a repetitive way and over time those repetitive movements cause wrinkles and fine lines. When you start to experience the signs of aging, Botox® is available to diminish unwanted wrinkles and creases in your face. Botox® blocks the release of a chemical called acetylcholine, which triggers the muscle contractions that create wrinkles. Botox® essentially paralyzes the muscles and stops them from contracting. Results from Botox® are visible within two to four days with results that can last anywhere from four to six months. Botox® cosmetic treatments can be used to improve: Worry lines in your forehead Lines between the eyebrows Smile lines Laugh lines from nose to mouth Crow’s feet Generally, anyone in good health who has fairly shallow fine lines and wrinkles may be good candidates for Botox® treatments. Most patients require retreatment to remove wrinkles and lines as they begin to reappear, but after each injection the wrinkles return as less severe as the muscles are trained to relax. The procedure does not require anesthesia and usually takes just a few minutes to perform. Botox® treatments can help both men and women rejuvenate and revitalize their appearance.

  • Chemical Peels

The surface of our skin, especially the face, suffers wear and tear from environmental and hormonal factors, which requires occasional maintenance. Sun exposure, acne or just getting older can leave your skin tone uneven, wrinkled, spotted or scarred. Chemical peels work on the surface layers of the skin to provide deep chemical exfoliation. Chemical peels are applied to damaged skin in order to cause the layers to peel away and reveal younger, healthier layers beneath. Once removed, this fresh, new skin provides a healthy glowing appearance. Wrinkles and sun damage are reduced and the skin is left soft and revitalized. Although chemical peels are used mostly on the face, they can also be used to improve the skin on your neck and hands. With chemical peels you can improve: Acne or acne scars Age and liver spots Fine lines and wrinkles Freckles Irregular skin pigmentation By visiting a MedSpa, you can improve your skin’s appearance with chemical peels.

  • Dermal Fillers

Dermal fillers are used to “fill” skin that has lost tissue volume. The new fillers are made of natural ingredients such as calcium and hyaluronic acid. Some of the popular brands of dermal fillers include Juvederm and Botox. By visiting your MedSpa, a trained specialist will determine which filler will best suit your needs. Dermal fillers can last anywhere from 6 – 18 months depending on the individual, and are most commonly used in the following areas: Nasal labial folds Marionette lines Cheeks Lips Facial wrinkles Vertical lip lines Corners of the mouth Some dermal fillers can even be used in conjunction with other skin rejuvenation treatments. With dermal fillers, you can successfully improve the appearance of aging skin.

  • Juvederm

Juvederm is a dermal filler that provides a non-invasive way to attain a more youthful appearance. It is a non-surgical wrinkle treatment that, when injected into the skin, restores the skin’s volume and hydration. Juvederm is used to smooth away wrinkles and nasolabial folds, otherwise known as smile lines. A specially formulated gel, composed of cross-linked hyaluronic acid, Juvederm was developed by Allergan, the manufacturer for Botox, and approved for cosmetic use by the FDA in 2006. The smooth consistency of Juvederm allows it to be easily and accurately administered by your MedSpa specialist. Each treatment requires approximately 15 minutes, depending on the number of injections required. Results with Juvederm are immediate. Your rejuvenated appearance is temporary, and can be maintained for up to one year with results varying from person to person. Hyaluronic acid is a natural protein, allowing Juvederm to gradually be absorbed into the body. Additionally injections, or touch ups, may be required to achieve and maintain optimal results. The natural protein used, allows Juvederm to pose little risk of an allergic reaction and does not require an allergy test prior to treatment.

  • Skin Rejuvenation

Both the pleasures and stresses of life, along with aging, tend to cause our skin to appear older. While many people choose makeup or even invasive surgery to counter the aging process, there are skin rejuvenation treatments available to reveal more even, luminous, younger looking skin. A skin rejuvenation program will be designed for the individual patient. The best results for skin rejuvenation are achieved when all causes of aging are addressed. Proper diet is essential, while sun damage must be corrected. Wrinkles will also be addressed through various dermal fillers procedures such as Juvederm or Botox, and the sooner you start, the better. Skin rejuvenation is a treatment to resurface your skin, or to improve the texture, clarity and overall appearance of your skin. Some conditions that can be treated include: Static wrinkles Dynamic wrinkles Pigmentation Scars Vascular conditions Loss of skin tone By visiting a MedSpa, you can find the best skin rejuvenation treatment plan so that you can look and feel younger. • Wrinkle Treatments

Aging is an inevitable part of life, but there are anti-aging strategies that can be implemented now to delay and reduce the onset of lines and wrinkles. The visible signs of aging that we see on our skin such as sagging, wrinkles, discoloration, loss of firmness and texture, are the results of both intrinsic and extrinsic factors. Intrinsic factors include genetics, and other factors that we cannot control, while extrinsic factors are the habits and behaviors that we can control such as sleep, nutrition and sun protection. Wrinkles are creases, folds, or ridges in the skin that begin to appear as we age. The first wrinkles to appear on our face tend to be the result of facial expressions such as squinting or smiling. Sun damage, smoking, dehydration, and some medications may also cause wrinkles to develop. As a natural part of aging, wrinkles can also be more prominent on sun-exposed skin, such as the face, neck, hands and forearms. Although genetics are the most important determination of skin structure and texture, sun exposure is the major contributor of wrinkles. Today there are a variety of treatments available to treat wrinkles, including: Botox - currently the number one treatment in the United States, it works well in eliminating wrinkles. Dermal Fillers - this treatment is used to "fill" skin that has lost tissue volume. By visiting your MedSpa, you can take the next step toward a more youthful appearance.
